Apple releases New Firmware: OS 3.0 for iPhone and iPod Touch

A new version of iPhone OS 3.0 firmware is now available for free download. This firmware upgrade existing firmware of iPhone and also iPod Touch. The new firmware has many new much needed enhancements.

What’s new in iPhone OS 3.0?

You can now Cut, Copy and Paste text and images between applications, just like you work on your PC.
iPhone 3.0 can show a keyboard in the landscape mode.
MMS support included for iPhone 3G (this service is to be provided by AT&T soon)
New search feature called Spotlight search lets users do a combined search of all their data such as contacts, emails, calendars and Notes.
iPhone 3.0 can be used as a voice recorder with the Voice Memo feature.
Enhanced Calendar supports Microsoft Exchange Activesync and CallDAV
Lets you run next generation of applications such as peer to peer games.
You can now download movies, TV shows and audio books from the iTunes store.
Sync Notes between iPhone and your Mac or PC.
Log in to your YouTube account to save and sync bookmarks and rate favorites.
Shake to Shuffle: Change songs with a shake of the iPhone.
Parental Control: Parents can give selective access to music, videos as well as applications to their kids.
Connectivity: Stereo Bluetooth support and automatic log-in to Wi-Fi hotspots

Apple iPhone How to upgrade iPhone/iPod Touch?
Step 1: Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer. iTunes 8.2 is needed for this upgrade. Download iTunes 8.2 here.
Step 2: Open iTunes and select your iPhone under Devices in the Source List.
Step 3: In the iPhone Summary pane, click ‘Check for Update‘ button.
Step 4: Click ‘Download and Install‘. Do not disconnect your iPhone until the update has finished.
