Finally there is some good news for those users who are looking to jailbreak iOS 4.0 on iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), or iPod Touch 2G (MC model). The latest version of Sn0wbreeze 1.7 (port of PwnageTool for Windows) now supports iPhone 3GS (both old and new bootrom), iPod Touch 2G (MC and non-MC models), and iPod Touch 3G.

There is one pre-requisite, you need to be on firmware 3.1.2, or have saved your SHSH blobs for iPhone 3.1.2 in order to use sn0wbreeze 1.7 to jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 4. Users of iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) and iPod Touch 2G (MC model) should note that the jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze 1.7 will be tethered. This means that every time you power off your phone, you will need to connect it to Computer to bring it back on.

Similar to PwnageTool for Mac OSX, Sn0wbreeze lets you create a custom firmware (IPSW) file, with which you can restore your iPhone via iTunes 9.2.
