Find If iPhone 3G (3GS) Has Old Bootrom Or New Bootrom Using iDetector
Those of you who are looking to jailbreak iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS sometimes are perplexed as to what bootrom their device has. Some jailbreak tools, such as PwnageTool support old bootrom only. So, it is good to find out whether your iPhone has old or new bootrom before you go ahead with jailbreaking or unlocking.
The iH8sn0w team, the makers of Sn0wbreeze and F0recast have come up with a small utility that tells your iPhone 3G, 3GS bootrom in a jiffy. Called iDetector, this tool asks you to put your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS in DFU mode before clicking on the ‘Is my Bootrom Old or New?’ button.
For the unaware, DFU mode is attained by first powering off your iPhone, then hold down the POWER and HOME buttons for a few seconds. Later release the POWER button, still holding the HOME button for a few more seconds.

Works With Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP
