Hacktivation Patch For Different SIM Detected Error On iPhone After Activation With Phonebook SIM

So you were able to jailbreak iPhone, activate without original SIM, and even finally unlock iPhone. But when you finally replaced the phonebook SIM with the unofficial SIM, you are surprised to see the ‘Different SIM detected’ message, asking you to connect to iTunes.

Well the reason for this is that Apple has blocked phonebook SIMs. So here is an easy to use hacktivation patch for your iPhone to get rid of the ‘Different SIM detected’ error, given by Sherif Hashim the same guy who gave us the phonebook SIM iPhone activation trick.

Those of you who already have the pushfix repo in Cydia can go ahead to step 5. This is the from the same author who also gave us the fix for push notifications.

1. When the error ‘Different SIM detected’ is displayed, replace your unofficial SIM with the phonebook SIM. This will get you out of the emergency mode.

2. Start Cydia from your iPhone springboard.

3. Touch on ‘Manage’, then ‘Sources’.

4. Touch on ‘Edit’ and then ‘Add’. Add ‘http://cydia.pushfix.info’ as a source and hit ‘Add Source’. Let Cydia update it’s sources.

5. Now that the repo is added, go back to Cydia and search for ‘Hacktivation Patch’.

6. Install the app.

That’s it. You can now insert your unofficial carrier SIM and will no longer face the ‘Different SIM detected’ error.

Hi! Correct me if I am wrong. This means that on my iphone 3gs which is alreay jailbroken I have to install this patch “Hactivation Patch” then I can upgrade my firmware to 4.0 and Itunes will activate my iphone using a phone book sim card?

  Actually, it’s the other way around. You jailbreak your iPhone, activate it using a phonebook SIM card, and then unlock it.
  But when finally you try to use the unofficial carrier SIM, you get the error ‘Different SIM Detected’.
  This is when you need the hacktivation patch to fix this error.

    I have a 3GS Iphone bought in England. I upgraded the firmware to 4.0 and it now needs to be activated with Itunes. I bought a phone book sim from Dits, just like in the video, but my iphone does not activate on Itunes. I get a message that says that sim can not be … What can I do?

I was thinking about upgrading to 4.1 will this work I use AT&T but my phone Is from somewhere else so I don’t need an unlock right I just used it to active phone then swaped my sim

  I have the same problem, my iPhone 4 is locked to AT&T and I am using a Swedish carrier. Hacktivation patch doesn’t work with 4.1. I hope someone will fix it asap

Im using an unofficial carrier sim and I just restored my iphone 3g settings to its original setting then what happened is that the phone needs to be activated. I’m not using anymore the original carrier sim. what am I gonna do? the phonebook sim aint workin. help!

My phone is iphone 4 iOS 4.0 (8A282) baseband 1.59.00. I unlocked and tried to download the “hactivation” but there was an error “/var/cache/apt/archives/com.pushfix.lockdownd_1.1_iphoneos-arm.deb subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1″
