Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 With redsn0w 0.9

redsn0w 0.9, the jailbreak and unlock tool for iPhone and iPod Touch with firmware 3.1.2 now has a final version available for download. A Beta version was released more than a week ago and it could jailbreak all devices on iPhone OS 3.0/3.1.2,  except the iPod Touch 3G. The final version fills this gap, along with added IPCC tethering.

We have already written an article on how to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 using redsn0w Beta. Even if you have already jailbroken your device, you may still want to use redsn0w to apply custom boot and recovery logos, turn on or off the ‘verbose’ boot mode by selecting the ‘Already Pwned’ option.

redsn0w installs Cydia, afc2, and the IPCC tethering hack. So you don’t have to download and install them separately, the way you do when you use blackra1n. If you are looking for a way to create a custom root partition size or a custom build with Cydia apps bundled into it. Sn0wbreeze is yet another free jailbreaking tool (for Windows) which can apply custom boot logos and perform NOR-only IPSW flashing.

For the unaware, redsn0w 0.9 is a multi-platform jailbreaking, unlocking and customizing tool that can run on both Windows and Mac OS X. It’s previous version 0.8 was for jailbreaking iPhone 3.0/3.0.1 devices. The latest version 0.9 can jailbreak iPhone and iPod Touch with firmware 3.0 or 3.1.2.

Unlike pwnage tool, redsn0w does not require a system restore or iTunes for the jailbreaking process. However a drawback is that redsn0w does not preserve the baseband when upgrading your firmware, which means that your unlocking is also not preserved.

UPDATE: redsn0w is now updated to version 0.9.4.

Download redsn0w 0.9.4 final version for Windows, Mac OSX.
