How To Remote Control jDownloader From iPhone [Jailbreak App]
jDownloader is a popular Rapidshare downloader, which also works with many other file sharing sites such as Hotfile, MegaUpload, DepositFiles, and so on. If you own an iPhone, then here is a strong reason to jailbreak your device. Now you can control jDownloader on your Windows PC or Mac from your iPhone using a Cydia app called ijDownloader.
You can pause, resume downloads, and add new downloads from your iPhone itself. jDownloader works on both WiFi and 3G, which means you can remote control your downloads on a local network or through the Internet. Here are the steps to remote control jDownloader from your iPhone:
Download and install jDownloader
jDownloader is available for Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, and an all-platform compatible Java application (link at bottom). You require JRE (Java Runtime) installed on your system for jDownloader to work.
Similar to many other freeware which offer to install unwanted 3rd party toolbars and shortcuts, jDownloader also has it’s own affiliation with Kikin. Make sure you select the ‘No, Thanks’ option before you proceed with the installation.

Enable Remote Control On jDownloader
After installation, click on the ‘Settings’ tab in jDownloder. In the left panel, scroll down the list and select Extensions, which can be found under the Plugins & Add-ons.

In the right panel, you should be able to see all the available extensions. Select JD Remote Control check box.
Now a new item is added to the Extensions list, the JD Remote Control. Select it and you should be able to see the Port option in the right pane. Note down the port number.

jDownloader iPhone App
The next step is to install the jDownloader Cydia app (ijDownloader) on your jailbroken iPhone. Check out our jailbreak articles, if you need some help.
Open Cydia on your iPhone, and search for ‘jDownloader’. The app is present in BigBoss repository, so you should be able to find it without adding any sources. Download and install the app.
Launch jDownloader and go to the Setup tab. Enter your computer’s IP address along with the given port (step 4 above) in the Intranet or the Internet URL, depending on whether you want to use WiFi (Intranet) or 3G (Internet).
In case of a LAN, the Intranet URl is of the form http://192.168.1.1:10025. Your internet IP address can be either static or dynamic. You can use jDownloader in case of static IP address, which stays the same always. Check out your firewall settings for incoming connections if you have some trouble connecting to your system.
That’s it. Once you are done with the configuration and successfully connected to your Computer, you can see all the current downloads along with the speed and progress information in the ‘Downloads’ tab. The Status tab lets you gives you an overview of the downloads, including total files in the queue, finished and still downloading files, download rate, and so on.

jDownloader has a built-in browser, which you can use to surf the net and add new downloads. This is accessible from the ‘Search’ tab.

For _that_ you need a jailbreak?!
Jesus, I’m so glad not to be an Apple-slave… Great software anyways. Works on Android just as fine. It seems to be missing password-protection though.
Doesnt work, ijdownloader is a small app that harvests your info and just says “not connected” any time you actually try to connect.
Sounds like you dont know what youre doing Pete!
