Sony PS3 Hacked By iPhone Hacker Geohot

Remember the teenage guy who released the iPhone jailbreaking tool, blackra1n that can jailbreak any device with firmware 3.1.2? George Hotz, also know as geohot has now released a hack for Sony PS3. As much as it is hard to believe that some one has hacked one of the most secure game machines, it is still true.

The Sony PS3 exploit, according to Hotz, gives full memory space access, including read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. This opes up the PS3 to allow all models to run PS2 software. The hack has been tested on version 2.4.2, but expected to work on other current versions.

The hack consists of an exploit file (a C program file), a Make file, a shell script file and instructions to run the hack on Sony PS3. You can read what George Hotz has to say about his hack on his personal blog.
